This is simultaneously kinda cool and kinda creepy.
It's a new 'fashion' robot from Japan. It (I initially wrote 'she') is a robot, which is automatically cool. Yet it moves in a surprisingly lifelike fashion, which is where it gets kinda creepy.

It's all well and good, until they start shouting 'kill all humans!' and coming after you with an industrial welder.
Cheers,

ok, so i think whoever-it-was's theory that iri's a lesbian is about to be blown out of the water.
and you can call me whatever, i don't care. it's the internet after all, and i have done enough trolling that i deserve whatever i get. my other usernames include spas, spastic and michelle4jerusalem, revealing but stupid gravatar said spas and spastic were already taken. why do i bother with gravatar anyway? i deserve to be trolled for wasting so much time online.
While this is creepy, it's completely badass. Specially if you mix it with those "real dolls." *grins* Might have to order one that looks like Iri.
haha- with my broken ankle, she moves better than i do!
Hey, if you want industrial welders, let me know. That's what I do. I'm in charge of around 100, but there's over 1,000 where I work. Well, robots, that is- there's lots more welders, and some of the robots pick things (like cars) up and move them instead of welding.
So, I got a ready-made army ready to take over the world! Mwu hahahah!
Except, could you please have the world report to Detroit for subjugation, all of my robots are bolted to the floor and don't even have legs...
Spas it is, then!
Thanks, TX_Val, now I'm slightly disturbed :)
So, what did you do to break your ankle again? I can't recall if you mentioned it originally (hint: fighting ninjas always sounds good).
C'mon, Jerron! You've got robots making cars! Just have them bolt each other to the cars and viola, instant mobile army of death. Now you just need several million miles of extension cords . . .
HA, great rolling welders, this is what i've been dreaming of since watching mad max as a kid.
*hops around his office* WOOT.
Oh, I'm interested in what they're using for power source. I mean, sure it's probably just batteries, but what kind, what's the range and so on. We get our hands on some of those hydrogen generators GM has in that awesome concept car, and you're rolling-welders might be something serious in a decade.
Hmmm
I dunno. I'm sure that's all a very closely guarded secret right now (300 AAs, I'm sure.)
I don't know why I never thought of that, it's a way cool idea. [Starts plotting how to put a motor on the steering.]
While I could get all technical, let me just say about the power: 3 phase, 480 volts. Now if I hooked it up to a load of car batteries... BTW, we have hundreds of electric high-lows around here, all powered by loads of car batteries... Mwu haha And I know how to program them well enough to get the 'bot to control it, too.
I can imagine, armies of fork trucks each equipped with one giant arm able to lift single buildings in a tall bound...
Problem is, these things are stupid. *Really* stupid. Not only do they do exactly what you tell them (D'oh!), but they don't even have non-volatile memory. That's right- if someone forgot the single AA battery, and the power turns off, you no longer have an operating system. At more each than my house cost, you'd think they could put in a lousy $20 thumb drive that could hold a few hundred meg. (If you could find one that small.)
I think I might just need to design some *smart* world-dominating robots. I'll call them Dom-bots.. or maybe for short, D'oh-bots. ;-)
(And they wouldn't forget they were robots if the AA went dead, either, trust me. More like the T-101 that kept trying to kill everyone even after it pretty much wasn't even a robot anymore.)
Oh, and I wanted to mention, I wouldn't name it Herp C's, either.
Here's a vid I was looking for that's pretty hilarious, considering how completely dangerous it is. It's kinda like juggling chainsaws... No one gets hurt until something goes wrong. ;) (And no, that wasn't me doing it, although I'd probably be up for it if my bosses didn't find out.)

There, now you're thinkin'!
And that is totally cool and amazingly crazy at the same time. I honestly thought the guy got his head scrapped across the ground at one point. Big giant arm = cool. Big giant arm holding you = kinda scary.
Wow...
Watching that video plunged me straight down to the bottom of the Uncanny Valley. Robots = cool. Robot-not-quite-girls = CREEPY! I love that they're coming closer to realistic humanoid robots, but until that shining day, leave the skin off!
Personally, the closer they get to 'human' the creepier it gets. A lot of sci-fi and horror has been written about too-human robots, after all.
