It Is Near

Just in case you haven't been paying attention: Watchmen. Friday.

A group expedition is already being organized among my friends for a group outing. I'm sure the theater will be packed, but hey, it's the Watchmen.

Just in case you haven't seen it:

Cheers,

I'm wondering how many girls are going to be going on their own accord like I am. I'm thinking about going to the midnight showing, but it depends on how much sleep and homework that i get done this week. If my paper is done, my study sheet submited and my book read before Thursday night, I'll go. Otherwise, waiting until Saturday

After reading the comic itself, I am starting to believe that the movie may not be as good as people hoped. Don't get me wrong, the comic book was one of the greatest comics I have ever read, but that is why I bilieve that the movie won't live up to the hype. There is just so much going on in the series and so many plot points, I just don't believe that they will be able to cover it all a a scant two and a half hours.

It's not going to be able to live up to the comic, which is the best one that I've ever read, but it's probably going to be closer to canon than V for Vendetta or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I know that Alan Moore doesn't want to be associated with it since he doesn't feel its possible for Watchmen to be given justice on the silver screen. They're probably going to have cut somethings, but from what I've read and gathered, the crew and cast were pretty devoted to the comic and representing it well.

Well, it will never be as good as the comic, but I have faith that they will be able to portray the main storyline fairly accurately. We probably won't get a lot of the 'original' heroes, but the 'main' events should be intact (I hope). I heard from a co-worker who has special-effects friends that there won't be a giant-squid monster at the end. He didn't know what they're doing in its place, but he's confident that it will be cool and carry the same weight.
