On Friday night, I sat down to watch In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale with Leigh and his wife.
Our previous exposure to Uwe Boll movies had been House of the Dead, which was so bad it was hysterically funny. I have also seen BloodRayne, which though not as funny as HotD, it did have its moments.
In the Name of the King was disappointedly good, in that it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd hoped. It was just a bad fantasy movie that used a lot of shots straight out of LotR.
So, I guess, Uwe Boll is getting better. Good for him, though I kind of miss the old Uwe, with ravers fighting zombies with kung-fu, machine guns, and bullet time. There was a certain purity in the hilarious weirdness, where you can't believe that he just did what he did, but were delighted he did it.
Did that make sense? Hard to tell.
Anyhow, there will be the regular update on Tuesday and blogs the rest of the week, as usual.
Cheers,
-Jason

oh i thought the plot, script and acting were all pretty miserable, but i'll take a fantasy movie over another sort for cheap entertainment any day.
i love it that iri killed one of the arkenites! the red-headed twins were so delicious and she's pretty fiery on the cover page but he was too stupid to last long - he basically ignored her warning. she'll be harder to kill, i bet. she is taking too many risks for lily - why does lily matter to her so much? just a stray girl. but maybe lily's innate goodness, loyalty and willingness to learn have won iri over.
I am of the opinion that Uwe Boll is the Ed Wood of our time.
Well, Iri basically took Lily on as an apprentice and as such, is responsible for her. Besides, as you point out, Lily is a nice person, so there's little reason to abandon her to (at this point) probably death.
Y'know, ilayas, he could be. Now we just need Johnny Depp to star as him in a movie . . .
If you want a fantasy-style 'gamer' movie, then check out the second "The Gamers" movie: "The Gamers -- Dorkness Rising". I saw it at Comic Con last Friday, the DVD is due out mid-August, and I've got it on my 'must get' list of stuff seen at the convention.
Cool, I will!
